Well, most of the snow is mostly gone from the roads, and tomorrow’s weather forecast is looking nice and sunny and pretty warm in the afternoon (8°C), so I decided to get my bicycle back in service. The plan is to cycle over to Weston Park tomorrow (8km) with my Elecraft KX1 QRP radio in my bicycle pannier and a pair of gaiters, and some warm clothes in a small backpack.
I will have my VX-8r H/T attached to the backpack and will be sending APRS beacons as I cycle, and monitoring the VE3MPC repeater on 147.150(+) and 444.4 (+). At the park I will meet up with Bob VA3QV and we are going to play HF for a few hours and Bob is going to show me his new hamtenna in action, can’t wait!
The challenge will be keeping warm enough having accumulated some sweat from the bike ride… we shall see
