Airband Fun
Today I was at the Ottawa airport dropping off Fariba, she was taking a flight to Europe.
When I got home, I remembered that my new Yaesu VX-8r has the aeronautical band, so I googled Ottawa’s airband frequencies and found this. A quick listen on the tower frequency 118.800Mhz and there was ACA838 requesting take-off clearance! After initial climb, the tower handed the flight off to departures on 128.175MHz, and after a couple of course changes, to Montreal Center at Mont Laurier on 126.575MHz.
It was fun, kind of felt like being there!
